John wonders “Do old memories linger in old places? I wouldn’t be surprised. I once had the opportunity to explore a wonderful old barn. As I wandered around the cool silent interior, I reflected on all of the important yet unglamorous farm work done in that barn over so many years. The young girl in my scene symbolizes all the hard-working individuals who, however briefly, raise their spirits from the mundane to the sublime and appreciate the beauty of the moment.
In modern times, every day is busy. Still, it takes just a moment to step away from the hectic schedule and focus on the natural world ... the first spring flower, a cheery birdsong, or even the vibrant colors of the sunset ... to truly be ‘in the moment’.
